Where the past meets the present

The Clerk Archives is an integral part of the County Clerk’s office. Preserving court decisions is one of the responsibilities of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, whose role began at the formation of Porter County in 1836. With over 1 million records obtained, glimpses of Porter County’s past is available to the Public, Courts, Federal, State, and Local Government agencies, Students, Scholars, Independent Researchers, including Genealogists.

Hi, I’m jESSICA. tHANKS FOR VISITING THE CLERK ARCHIVES

I am the Porter County Clerk of the Circuit Court located in Valparaiso, Indiana. We are excited to provide the Clerk Archives to the public, our newest addition to the Clerk’s office. Our Clerk Archives team and a host of community volunteers are steadily working to digitize our court records to preserve them for years to come. Visit us often for highlights of our archive collections and explore stories from the past.

Join the CLERK archives project

We are seeking volunteers to help us preserve the history of our region. Through community service, you can join our efforts at the Clerk Archives Department and explore the past with us! We offer volunteer opportunities with hands-on training and a flexible schedule. Would you like to partner with us? We have assignments that may allow us to collaborate efforts with your club, group or organization to fulfill community service requirements. In addition, college students may seek unpaid internship opportunities with us. Internships are ideal for those interested in History, English, Law, Criminal Justice and research.
