Public Record Requests

REQUEST FOR PUBLIC RECORDS

Searching for a record? The Porter County Clerk of the Circuit Court is the official record custodian of the court records. The Clerk Archives operated by the Clerk’s office can only fulfill requests for public records that are initiated through the Porter County, Indiana court system. You can make a public records request by completing the Request for Public Records form online. Your request will be reviewed to determine if the record requested is eligible for release. Certain records may be confidential and not available to the public per Indiana Code 5-14-3-4. The review process may vary in time depending on the scope of your request. Responses are provided no later than seven (7) days after receiving a public records request. Please note that a response does not guarantee the production of a document.

A request submitted to the Porter County Clerk Archives after July 1, 2026, that is “suspected to be automated or to have originated from known sources of phishing or data scraping” will be declined by the organization and such request shall be submitted to the Indiana Public Access Counselor for further review. See Indiana Code sections 5-14-3-3.3(a)(4); 5-14-3-2(d),(p).
